A Rigorous and Supportive High School

Through a partnership with Austin Community College (ACC), students are given the tools to succeed while immersed in a higher education experience, beginning their freshman year of high school and ending with an Associate’s degree and up to 60 hours of college credit.

Program Requirements

• A complete declaration packet, including one Teacher, one Counselor and one Administrator/Community Leader recommendation
• Be prepared for a rigorous course of study
• Parents cannot communicate with ACC professors about student progress. Defer to ECHS Counselors
• College-level maturity & behavior expected
• Pass the TSI by December of 10th Grade
• 10th Grade applicants must pass TSI before being admitted. ACC Testing Calendar

Personalized Academic Support

• Students are taught study methods and organizational strategies to help them boost their academic skills through AVID.
• Classes are rigorous, with most being advanced (formerly called Pre-AP) or dual credit courses.
• The project-based learning instructional model, challenges students with a meaninful course of study and real-world applications.
• Frequent interventions provides 1:1 academic support and personal encouragement.

In High School: Teachers and parents remind you of responsibilities.
In College: You manage your own time and coursework.

In High School: Teachers may initiate contact with you.
In College: You will need to initiate contact with instructors.

In High School: Teachers may give notes if you missed class or provide you with assignments and an extended due date.
In College: Instructors expect you to be prepared for class even when you have missed class.

In High School: Content of the program is altered to fit you.
In College: Course content is not altered, although the method of learning may be altered.

In High School: Parents, teachers, counselors and special education professionals track you and your services each year.
In College: You must identify yourself every semester if you want services.

• Students attend classes housed in modern portables, with a fully-equipped labs, common, flexible, and outside spaces, fitness center, and dedicated food truck.
• ACC police on site to provide security
• Students start their ACC degree plan with a college-readiness course
• Cohorts are capped at 125 students
• Upperclassmen utilize ACC lecture halls and classrooms and have access to ACC academic, career and counseling services as well as Student Life events.
